What Are The Differences And Selection Suggestions Between Breathable And Mixed Plastic Running Tracks?

Sep 03, 2025

1. Permeable type track (Permeable Type Track)

Features:

The bottom layer uses a mechanical paving process, and the material is a single-component polyurethane adhesive mixed with black rubber granules.

The surface is sprayed with PU topcoat and EPDM colored particles.

The bottom layer is breathable, water vapor can naturally be discharged, and it is not easy to bubble.

Advantages:

The construction cycle is short, the process is simple, and the cost-effectiveness is high.

Drainage and breathability, suitable for various climate conditions.

It has good elasticity and is suitable for daily exercise and school teaching training.

Disadvantages:

The wear resistance and impact resistance are slightly weaker, and it is not suitable for high-intensity competitions.

The service life is usually slightly shorter than that of the hybrid type.

Applicable scenarios:

School playground for daily teaching

Community fitness track

Cost-sensitive ordinary sports ground

2. Hybrid Type Track

Features
The bottom layer is a mixture of polyurethane elastic material and rubber particles, which is dense and pore-free.
The surface layer is made of all PU material and EPDM colored particles.
The overall structure is dense, with stronger elasticity and durability.
Advantages
It has good elasticity, strong wear resistance and excellent weather resistance.
It has a long service life and low maintenance costs.
Meet the performance requirements of the track for high-standard events.
Disadvantage
The cost is relatively high and the construction requirements are strict.
The bottom layer is not breathable. If the foundation is damp, bubbling problems are likely to occur.
Applicable scenarios
Professional sports stadiums or sports fields
Venues that need to host large-scale or high-level events
Schools or training bases with high requirements for durability.
